The Kenya Institute of Special Education (KISE) has been recognized nationally for its outstanding performance and commitment to quality service delivery after emerging among the top performers at the National Productivity and Competitiveness Conference and Awards.

The institution received the prestigious award during the conference held at the Kenya School of Government in Nairobi, where public institutions were honoured for demonstrating excellence in productivity, innovation and service delivery.

The event brought together government agencies, State corporations and public service institutions to showcase achievements in performance management and citizen-centred services.

KISE Director Dr. Norman Kiogora attributed the achievement to the dedication of staff and the institute's continued focus on promoting inclusive education and support services for learners with disabilities.

The award comes as KISE continues to expand its mandate of training teachers in special needs education, conducting assessments for learners with disabilities, undertaking research and developing assistive technologies aimed at enhancing access to education.

Established in 1986, KISE has played a central role in advancing inclusive education in Kenya through specialized training programmes, functional assessments, rehabilitation services and the production of assistive devices for persons with disabilities.

The recognition is expected to further boost the institute's efforts to strengthen service delivery and support the government's agenda of ensuring equitable access to quality education for all learners, including those with special needs and disabilities.

The National Productivity and Competitiveness Conference is one of the country's key platforms for evaluating and rewarding institutions that demonstrate excellence in operational efficiency, innovation and public service performance.
