Speaking on Tuesday during the launch and inspection of projects in North Imenti Constituency, Meru County, Kindiki challenged opposition leaders — many of whom previously held senior government roles — to account for their record in office.
“I challenge them to tell the people of Kenya what they did for them when they were in power,” he said.
Kindiki said the next election contest would be defined by what leaders delivered during their time in office, insisting that “insults” would not win votes.
“We cannot be afraid of people who are full of insults. Some of them had time to work for the people but because of their incompetence they were kicked out,” he said, urging residents to demand answers from leaders seeking their support.
In Meru, the Deputy President launched the Kambiti Last Mile Electricity Project, inspected the Mwendatu Affordable Housing Project and later addressed residents in Meru town.
He said the government has rolled out projects worth billions of shillings in Meru County, arguing they will underpin President William Ruto’s re-election bid in the 2027 polls.
Among the projects he cited are the elevation of Meru Referral Hospital to Level 6, construction of modern markets — including the Gakoromone market — and road works to improve key link roads within Meru town.
Kindiki urged the Meru community to back President Ruto, saying the administration’s development agenda would form the basis of its campaign.
