Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has warned leaders against making claims about election rigging, saying President William Ruto does not need interference or malpractices to win re-election and that the Kenya Kwanza administration will support a free and fair poll.

Speaking during a public sensitisation event in Kitutu Chache North, Kisii County, Kindiki said the government is a product of a free election in 2022 and cannot condone any language that undermines the rule of law or democracy.

“I want to say here without fear of contradiction that President Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza administration believe in the rule of law, democracy and healthy competition, and we will not condone the language of election interference,” Kindiki said.

“Kama IEBC haingekuwa tume ya uchaguzi huru hatungekuwa kwa ofisi sahii,” he added.

Kindiki said the 2027 election must be “free, fair and peaceful”, arguing that Kenyans should judge leaders based on development and service delivery rather than ethnic politics and divisive rhetoric.

He said Ruto does not require rigging to return to State House, insisting the administration’s track record will speak for itself.

The Deputy President also cited government investments in the education sector, saying the education budget has grown from Ksh500 billion in 2022 to Ksh702 billion this year, and is projected to rise to Ksh765 billion next year.

Kindiki said the government identified a shortage of 116,000 teachers and has so far employed 100,000, with plans to recruit an additional 20,000 following the next budget cycle.

He also cited the construction of 23,000 classrooms, 1,600 laboratories and the hiring of about 3,000 tutors for TVET and tertiary institutions, while claiming TVET enrolment has risen from 297,000 students in 2022 to 718,000.

In Kitutu Chache North, Kindiki said the constituency has 79 kilometres of tarmac roads under construction at a cost of Ksh4.4 billion, and electricity connectivity projects worth Ksh700 million under a wider Kisii County programme targeting 20,000 households.

He also said he would support calls for a KMTC campus in the constituency and engage the Ministry of Education on upgrading a local school’s status.

Kindiki condemned political violence and intimidation, saying every Kenyan has a right to support a leader of their choice without coercion. He also referenced the killing of Rachel Wandeto, saying no citizen should be hurt or targeted because of political differences.
