Kindiki rallies Broad-based allies to remain united ahead of 2027 polls

Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki has called on political parties backing President William Ruto's re-election bid to remain united, saying cohesion within the Broad-Based Alliance will be key to securing victory in the 2027 General Election.

The DP, who spoke in Maralal, Samburu County, during a ceremony to receive a section of Jubilee Party defectors into the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), urged leaders to focus on the government's development agenda, arguing that its track record would be the coalition's strongest campaign message.

The Deputy President received a warm welcome from supporters as he began his political tour of Samburu County before appealing to leaders and residents to rally behind President Ruto's administration.

Kindiki said the government's development agenda is aimed at ensuring equitable distribution of resources across the country regardless of voting patterns.

"Watu walikuwa wanaleta kejeli kwa jamii ambazo ni kama hapa Samburu na kaskazini mwa Kenya lakini Rais amesema ili nchi yetu iwe na umoja tutaleta maendeleo kila kona," he said.

He dismissed criticism from opposition leaders, accusing them of advancing divisive politics instead of supporting inclusive development.

The Deputy President also described the growing number of leaders joining UDA as a sign of the ruling party's expanding national appeal.

"Leshomo aingie asiingie... hawa ukiwaona wamekuja na maelfu ya wafuasi wao ambao wanaingia UDA.... Na mmeona watu wengine wale ambao wamezoea ukabila, na wale wanapenda migawanyiko sasa mnaona wanaletea Rais kisirani, eti kwanini unahudumia watu bila kujali walipiga kura side gani," stated Kindiki.

Leaders from Samburu used the event to endorse Kindiki as President Ruto's running mate in the 2027 General Election, saying they support the current leadership arrangement.

"Sisi hapa Samburu tuko na wewe, tuko na Ruto. President ni Ruto, Deputy ni Kindiki. Story ya katikati sisi hatutaki kuskia," said Samburu Governor Jonathan Lelelit.

Former Jubilee Women League Chairperson Maison Leshoomo, who officially joined UDA during the event, attributed her defection to the government's development record in Samburu.

"Ile imefanya sisi tutoke Jubilee tuingie serikali ni ile serikali na President Ruto imetufanyia hapa Samburu," Leshoomo stated.

The leaders also urged residents to acquire national identity cards and register as voters as preparations for the 2027 General Election gather momentum.
