In yet another brutal killing, a young woman has lost her life after being stabbed multiple times in the neck during a violent confrontation with her boyfriend in Kilimani.

The suspect, identified as Newton, is now in custody at Kilimani Police Station. Both had reportedly worked at the same company along Ngong Road.

Citizen TV has obtained chilling CCTV footage showing the victim desperately trying to flee for her life, only for Newton to pursue and repeatedly stab her.

It was around 6:00 p.m. when Newton and the deceased left work along Kirichwa Road, heading home.

CCTV footage captures Newton ambushing the victim in full view of bystanders, narrowly avoiding getting hit by a passing car. Screams pierce the air as chaos unfolds.

Moments later, the victim is seen running toward a nearby pharmacy, but Newton follows closely, stabbing her relentlessly. Within less than a minute, blood stains the pavement. Newton walks away calmly, while the victim struggles to rise, staggering a few steps before collapsing and dying outside the pharmacy.

Witnesses claim Newton, realizing the growing crowd, pretended to collapse beside the victim, clutching her as if he too had been injured, in what appeared to be a bid to avoid mob justice.

Police arrived shortly after and rushed Newton to hospital for what he claimed were injuries. But medics discovered he had no wounds, the blood on his clothes belonged to the victim.

Citizen TV has established the two had been in a troubled relationship. The victim had previously quit her job due to harassment and relationship misunderstanding but returned to the same company on May 13.

A supervisor had urged them to set aside their differences and focus on work.

But just a day later, May 14, Newton allegedly attacked her after leaving the office, stabbing her multiple times in the neck and face.

Newton is held at Kilimani Police Station as detectives recover the murder weapon for forensic analysis. It remains unclear how he obtained the knife or what his exact motive was.

Femicide has become a national emergency. Reports show that more than 500 women are killed annually, with intimate partners accounting for over 60 per cent of these murders.

The majority of victims are young women aged 18–34, often attacked in their homes or private spaces. Civil society groups warn that the true numbers are even higher due to underreporting and weak justice systems.

The victim’s body lies at City Mortuary in Nairobi, while Newton is expected to be arraigned in court on Monday.
