In a statement on Sunday, Kibias said he was not contacted to verify whether he had submitted an application in the second recruitment process.
“I wish to categorically state that allegations suggesting I delayed or influenced the recruitment process in order to continue serving in an acting capacity or to benefit from the office are false and without any factual basis,” he said.
Additionally, the CEO alleged that the recruitment process was affected by circumstances arising from ongoing court proceedings, which he says impacted the Board’s quorum and its ability to conclude the process within the anticipated timelines. This, Kibias said, are governance and legal developments beyond his control.
According to Kibias, recruitment processes at the institution are subject to established procedures that he has adhered to at all times as an MD at the company.
The Board of KETRACO appointed Eng. Kipkemoi Kibias as its Acting Managing Director and CEO effective September 19, 2025, taking after John Muoki Mativo.
His appointment was as a result of consultations between the Board, Head of Public Service Felix Koskei, as well as Energy and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi.
Kipkemoi has affirmed his commitment to support the lawful conclusion of the recruitment process once the Board is duly constituted and able to discharge its mandate.
