Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Premier League champions Kenya Police FC have been drawn in Group A of the 2025 CECAFA Kagame Cup, which will run from September 2–15 in Dar- es-Salaam, Tanzania.

Police, who lifted their first-ever Kenyan league title last season, will face a tough pool that includes Tanzania’s Singida Black Stars, who are also set to represent the country in the CAF Confederation Cup, Ethiopian Premier League giants Ethiopia Coffee, and Garde Cotes FC, champions of Djibouti.

Group B has Rwanda Premier League winners APR FC, Uganda’s Vipers SC, Burundi’s Flambeau du Centre, and South Sudan’s El Merreikh SC Bentiu.

Group C features Sudanese heavyweights Al Hilal Omdurman, Al Ahly SC Wad Madani, Mogadishu City Club, champions of the Somalia Premier League, and Kator SC from South Sudan.

CECAFA Competitions Manager Youssuf Mossi noted that the tournament offers teams a strong pre-season platform ahead of the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup campaigns. Last year, Zambia’s Red Arrows, a guest team, defeated Rwanda’s APR FC on penalties to lift the title in Dar es Salaam.

Kenya Police will be aiming for a stronger regional outing compared to Gor Mahia, who represented Kenya in the last edition but failed to progress from the group stage.
