Kenya Kwanza allies rally Western support as leaders attack Uhuru, back Ruto's re-election

The leaders used the event to rally support for Ruto's 2027 re-election bid while launching sharp attacks on former President Uhuru Kenyatta, accusing him of financing the opposition.

Led by President William Ruto's aide Farouk Kibet and a section of leaders from the Western region, the politicians urged residents to back the Kenya Kwanza administration, arguing that the opposition lacked a clear agenda for the country.

Farouk accused unnamed opposition figures and their financiers of promoting divisive politics, saying they would not succeed in the next election.

"Mimi nahakikishia kwamba wale wakora, wale sponsors, wale wanatafuta kuwa sponsored watashindwa.... Nyinyi hamuwezi kukubaliana na wale ambao wanaamini kwa ukabila. Wengine wanaamini kwa kutumwa hadi wanasaliti nyumbani. Washindwe ama wasishindwe. Waende ama wasiende?" said Kibet.

Budalang'i MP Raphael Wanjala declared that leaders from the Western region had resolved to support President Ruto for a second term and proposed that the President consider choosing his running mate from the region.

"Sisi vile tunaenda kwa kura 2027. Tunaambia Rais William Ruto tuko na vijana ambao wamekomaa. Wako na experience ya kutosha. Hao achukue mmoja wao akue running mate. Tunasema sisi watu wa Western tumekubali kuunga Mheshimiwa William Ruto two-term," said Wanjala.

Likuyani MP Innocent Mugabe also criticised former President Kenyatta, saying he had failed to deliver during his tenure and should allow the current administration to govern.

"Sasa wewe Uhuru Kenyatta. Ni nini hiyo ulisahau State House. Wewe ulipewa kazi, haukufanya kazi. Mheshimiwa Ruto amekuonyesha vile kazi inafanywa. My friend ukichengwa tulia. Wakati yako ilikwisha," Mugabe said.

The leaders maintained that Kenya Kwanza would continue popularising the government's development agenda as political mobilisation for the 2027 General Election gathers momentum.
