Kenya Army Volleyball Team booked their place in the playoffs after registering impressive victories over A Plus Volleyball Club, now known as Maisha Mothers, and Kenyatta University during the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) National League second-leg matches held at the Kasarani Indoor Arena on May 23, 2026. Kenya Army defeated Maisha Mothers 3-1 before sealing their playoff qualification with a straight-sets 3-0 win over Kenyatta University to finish the regular season strongly. Despite the defeat, Maisha Mothers showed great determination, taking the opening set against Kenya Army before lapses in concentration allowed their opponents to fight back and take control of the match. Head coach Paul Miricho expressed satisfaction with his players’ performance, insisting they were unlucky not to secure victory. Miricho noted that while the team possesses quality and talent, maintaining mental focus remains a challenge. He also highlighted sponsorship struggles as a major setback throughout the season, revealing that players often struggled to honor fixtures due to lack of transport, training allowances, and meals. However, with a new sponsor now backing the club, Miricho remains hopeful that Maisha Mothers will improve both mentally and competitively next season. “Winning is not about skill alone,” he said, while praising his players for their resilience despite the challenges faced during the campaign. After completing their final match of the season, Maisha Mothers finished ninth in the 2025/2026 KVF National League standings. Team captain Mercy Musime acknowledged Kenya Army’s superiority and experience, noting that her side is still relatively new after being formed only last year. “We lacked momentum, which put us out of the game. We’ve faced big challenges from established teams, but next season we must change our mindset and put in more effort,” said Musime. Kenya Army team manager William Wahome hailed the victory as crucial in securing eighth place and a playoff berth. Wahome admitted his side had to adjust tactically after losing the opening set and also praised Maisha Mothers for their strong teamwork and competitiveness. “A Plus is not a team you can underestimate. They’ve worked hard in every area and play together as a unit. If we hadn’t come strong, we could have lost the second set,” said Wahome.
