Kenya among countries banned from domestic jobs in Kuwait

According to Gulf News, the government’s measure has been established based on recommendations from Kuwait's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Health and the Public Authority for Manpower.

Other countries listed alongside Kenya include Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Cabo Verde, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Mali, Burkina Faso, Gambia, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, and the Central African Republic.

The Republic of the Congo, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, Burundi and Angola, Madagascar, Uganda, Nigeria, Togo, Malawi, Chad, Djibouti and Niger have also been blacklisted.

However, domestic workers from South Africa, Benin, Eritrea, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, India, Vietnam, Nepal, and Senegal have been granted recruitment, limited to male workers only.

Additionally, the recruitment of female workers has been limited in some countries, as male intake has been widely permitted across most nations.

Reports have said the move is part of Kuwait’s initiative to regulate and enhance oversight of the sector through an overhaul of procedures and controls.
