The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has issued a public notice regarding the temporary partial closure of a major section along Waiyaki Way (A8 Road).

The affected segment spans between Villa Rosa Kempinski and the Museum Hill Interchange, specifically along the Mombasa-bound lanes.

According to the official communication released on October 1, 2026, signed by KeNHA Director General Eng. Luka Kimeli, the partial road closure will commence on Thursday, October 8, 2026, and extend through Saturday, November 7, 2026.

The authority explained that the scheduled traffic disruption is necessary to facilitate critical highway maintenance works aimed at improving the structural integrity and quality of the road section.

To manage traffic flow and minimize potential congestion, KeNHA has instructed motorists intending to use Waiyaki Way during this maintenance period to utilize the remaining unclosed lanes of the highway.

Drivers are also encouraged to consider planning ahead and utilizing alternative detour routes across the city to ensure seamless movement and reduce delays.

Furthermore, the highways authority has urged all road users to adhere strictly to the proposed traffic management plan deployed in the area.

Motorists are expected to extend full cooperation to traffic police officers and marshals stationed on site to guide vehicles.

KeNHA assured the public that normal traffic operations on the road will fully resume as soon as the scheduled maintenance works are completed.
