The sponsorship will support the annual initiative organised by Mama Ibado Charity (MIC), which seeks to raise awareness and resources for vulnerable senior citizens through healthcare, nutrition and social support programmes.
Speaking during the sponsorship handover, Run 4 Seniors Chairman Moses Mwangi said the partnership highlights the increasing role of the private sector in supporting the welfare of older persons.
Mama Ibado Charity President Ahmed Jibril said funds raised from the event will be directed towards programmes that provide healthcare access, nutritional support, psychosocial services and community outreach for elderly people facing economic challenges.
According to the organisation, its Seniors Feeding Programme has supported more than 2,000 senior citizens over the years, with benefits extending to over 5,000 household members under their care.
KCB Foundation Director Mendi Njonjo said the bank's support is aimed at promoting the wellbeing and inclusion of senior citizens, while encouraging wider public participation in initiatives that address their needs.
The event is expected to attract hundreds of participants from across the country, building on the inaugural edition held last year. Participants will compete in 5km, 10km and 15km race categories.
Organisers say the run is intended to promote healthy living while drawing attention to the challenges facing older persons, including access to healthcare, nutrition and social support.
