KCB leads charge to Christie Sevens quarters

The Kenya Sevens circuit leaders eased to the Christie Sevens quarter-finals after winning all three of their pool matches at the RFUEA Grounds in Nairobi on Saturday.

The Bankers downed Northern Suburbs Cubs 17-5 and Daystar 26-7 and then smashed Menengai Oilers 24-5 to wrap a perfect preliminary round.

Nakuru RFC also joined KCB in the last eight after opening wins over Blak Blad (19-5), Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology MMUST (24-12) and Millers Kabras (36-12).

Prinsloo winners Stanbic Mwamba, Menengai Cream Homeboyz, Menengai Oilers, Nondies, MMUST and Impala Resolution also reached the quarters.

Mwamba also kept a clean record winning 34-0 over Egerton Wasps, 24-0 over Nondies and 14-12 against Strathmore Leos as Homeboyz beat Pirates 7-17 and Quins 17-12. Nakuru saw off Blad 19-5 and MMUST 24-12.

Impala Saracens drew 17-17 with Kenya Harlequin before beating Stanbic Pirates 38-5 to set up a thrilling encounter with Homeboyz where they emerged winners with 17-5 score.

The quarter finals will kick off early in the morning at RFUEA grounds with the circuit winners known later in the day.
