Retired goalkeeper Wycliffe Kasaya has revealed that AFC Leopards still owe him six years since he left the club.

Kasaya, who played for Leopards between 2014 and 2015 left Ingwe before the expiry of his contract. This came due to financial struggles that was witnessed at the club when sole sponsor, Mumias Sugar Company pulled out.

After a couple of months without pay, Kasaya and several other players walked out of the club.

He moved to Nakumatt and later Mathare United and Sofapaka before walking out of the game that had seen him play for Sony Sugar, Gor Mahia, Bandari among other teams.

The shot-stopper has now discussed his time at the den and he says Ingwe are yet to settle the dues that they owe him. He says the club is still withholding his eighth-month salary.

“When Mumias and other League Sponsors pulled out things became hard. I went without pay for eight months before leaving for Nakumatt. They are yet to pay me the money and I know I will never get the money. It was a tough period because surviving without pay,” Kasaya told Citizen Digital

Kasaya also discussed the rivalry between Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards during his time at the den.

However, Gor have been dominant in the local scene for the last five years with Ingwe’s last win over their arch rivals dating back to early 2016.

“We used to beat Gor Mahia with ease. We had a great team then. The league was strong and very competitive. The derby was great then,” he added.

After retiring from the game, Kasaya shifted his focus to personal business.
