The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has apprehended two senior Port Health officials at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

In an operation on Monday, EACC says the staff were found in possession of a wad of cash.

The officials, identified as Esther Mwihaki Mwangi and Dedan Kamau Ndungu, were arrested on Monday evening for allegedly issuing Yellow Fever vaccine certificates to foreigners without administering the required vaccine.

According to EACC Spokesperson Eric Ngumbi, the suspects were engaged in soliciting and receiving bribes in exchange for the Yellow fever vaccine certificates, bypassing health regulations meant to prevent the spread of the disease.

Following their arrest, the suspects were detained at JKIA Police Station and later transferred to the EACC police station on Tuesday, where they are currently being held.

The Commission has vowed to continue cracking down on corrupt public officials to safeguard the integrity of public Kenya institutions.
