Comedian and radio presenter-turned-politician Jalang'o Phelix Odiwuor has won the Lang'ata Constituency Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) ticket in the party primaries held on Friday.

Jalango' garnered 3,509 votes, flooring his closest rival Oscar Omoke who got a paltry 1,612 votes.

Musaari Kahiga Syongoh came third with 397 votes, followed by Wangusi Nathan Barasa (146), Sally Bolo (138), and Taa Vivienne (121).

The media personality now will face off with the incumbent lawmaker Nixon Korir of the Deputy President William Ruto-led United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party at the August polls.

In the same constituency, David Mbiria won the ODM Karen ward MCA ticket with 421 votes, John Rex Omolleh won in Nairobi West ward with 262 votes, while Jared Akama Ondiek clinched victory in Mugumu-Ini ward with 486 votes, and Kennedy Odhiambo won in Nyayo Highrise with 835 votes.

Michael Magema Gumo beat Philip Kisia for the Westlands MP ticket after garnering 1,661 votes against the latter’s 627 votes.

This is despite the party on Friday announcing that it halted the nomination exercise in the constituency following the re-entrance of incumbent MP Tim Wanyonyi into the race.

Wanyonyi was initially seeking the Nairobi governor’s seat but dropped his bid to support former Equity Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) following consensus talks chaired by Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party leader Raila Odinga at KICC.
