Israeli military says killed two after West Bank shooting
A man watches olive oil being pressed from the fresh harvest at an olive mill in the village of Deir Abu Mishal west of Ramallah in the Israeli-occupied West Bank on October 22, 2026. The olive harvest starts in the West Bank in October and makes up a large component of the agricultural economy and cultural life for most Palestinians. Violence has flared in recent months in the West Bank with near-daily attacks, thefts or vandalism by Israeli settlers against Palestinians. Extremist Israeli settlers have been seizing olive groves owned by Palestinians, who see the trees as a cultural symbol. Some 500,000 Israeli settlers live in the West Bank, which Israel captured in 1967, among three million Palestinians. Settlements in occupied territory are illegal under international law. /AFP

Footage shared by rescuers showed a lifeless body in casual attire on the ground next to a petrol station as Israeli troops patrolled in all directions.
The Israeli military said soldiers had rushed to the Judea Junction area near the flashpoint city of Hebron after the early-morning shooting attack.
"IDF (Israel Defense Forces) soldiers eliminated two terrorists and continue searches in the area," it said in a statement.
The initial shooting wounded five people, two of whom were in critical condition, said Magen David Adom, Israel's emergency medical rescue service.
The incident comes as tensions soar in the West Bank, including over attacks by extremist Israeli settlers against Palestinian olive harvesters, and days ahead of Israeli elections.
