Bandari FC have received a major boost ahead of the
2026/27 Kenya Premier League season following the return of striker Beja
Nyamawi from a lengthy injury layoff.
Nyamawi missed a significant portion of last season
due to injury, but the forward is now back in training and determined to make
up for lost time as the Dockers prepare for a fresh campaign.
Speaking during the team's training session, the
striker expressed his delight at returning to action and thanked the club's
management, technical bench and teammates for standing by him during one of the
most challenging periods of his career.
"I am happy I am back. I had a very difficult
time almost the whole of last season, but I had much support from the
management, technical bench and players. I am really working hard to get back
strong before the start of the new season," said Nyamawi.
The forward said he is now in a good place both
physically and mentally and is focused on helping Bandari FC achieve better
results in the coming season.
"We will work as a team and push for a better
season for our fans."
Beyond club football, Nyamawi has also set his
sights on earning a return to the national team setup after previously
featuring for Harambee Stars.
"I will push again to be part of the Harambee
Stars squad and fulfil my dreams. I know God will see me through a free-injury
season and help me attain my goals."
Bandari have also been strengthened by the return of
midfielder Izzadin Juma, who spent the second half of last season on loan at
Kariobangi Sharks.
The midfielder believes the team has what it takes
to compete strongly in the new campaign and highlighted the experience within
the Bandari squad as a key advantage.
"We will work hard as a team to push the club
forward."
Juma also reflected on the differences between his
loan spell at Kariobangi Sharks and his return to Bandari.
"There is a huge difference between Bandari and
Kariobangi Sharks. At Sharks, the focus is more on developing young players,
but here at Bandari we have many experienced players. When they step onto the
field, they know exactly what to do. At Sharks, we were still being taught some
of the basics of football."
Bandari FC have continued with their pre-season
preparations as the technical bench assesses the squad and makes the necessary
adjustments ahead of the new season after a challenging 2025/26 campaign.
The developments come amid recent online speculation
over the future of head coach Bernard Mwalala, who has been in charge for just
six months. However, Bandari FC Chief Executive Officer Tony Kibwana has
dismissed the rumours and reaffirmed the club's commitment to the coach.
"Mark, I can assure you that Coach Mwalala is
going nowhere. I'll do everything within my power to ensure stability and
success at our club."
