In photos: lovebirds MP Wamumbi, Betty Maina kick off traditional marriage rites

The MP enlisted the assistance of his friends and family, including legislators Ndindi Nyoro, Babu Owino, Anne Waiguru, Mutahi Kahiga, Sylvanus Osoro, and Gathoni Wamuchomba, for 'Kuhanda Ithigi,' a ceremony in which the groom informs his inlaws of his intention to marry.

"Together with my family  and friends, we paid the first visit to the parents of Betty N Maina and the people of Muran'ga kùhanda Ithīgì which means that the girl is officially booked," Wamumbi captioned a series of photos from the event. 

"Elders from both sides initiated the process with the first steps being completed yesterday.," 

With 'Kuhanda Ithigi' done and dusted, the MP will be expcted to make another crucial trip to his inlaws, this time for the ruracio- the actual dowry-paying ceremony.
