Evelyn Cheluget, the acting Director General of Immigration services was on Friday feted during the 2023 Africa Public Sector Conference and Awards (APSCA).

Evelyn received a special recognition award at the conference held in Nairobi and attended by different dignitaries from the African continent. 

Evelyn was applauded for being the first woman in Kenya to have occupied the position of Director General (DG) of Immigration.

With 28 years of experience in the management and administration of immigration matters, Evelyn rose through the ranks to occupy her current position on May 12, 2023. 

At the event, Second Lady Pastor Dorcas Rigathi also received the ‘Outstanding Catalyst in Vulnerable Empowerment’ award.

She was recognised for her work with the boy child, widows and orphans, and people with disabilities in Kenya.

Tourism Cabinet Secretary Peninah Malonza was also awarded the 2023 Africa Tourism Woman of the Year Award. 

The award ceremony was the fourth in history, and was themed towards a Digital, Green and Resilient Economy.
