FKF President Hussein Mohamed has described the Football Kenya Federation's meeting with a joint FIFA and CAF delegation as "a good day for football", saying the discussions marked an important step towards strengthening the game ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.

Speaking after the meeting in Nairobi, Mohamed said the engagement provided an opportunity for FKF and the visiting delegation to address key issues affecting the federation while reinforcing cooperation across the football family.

"It was a good day for football. We had an opportunity to sit down with the FIFA and CAF delegation and discuss matters affecting the federation. It is important for the entire football family to work in harmony as we prepare to deliver a memorable AFCON and advance our football development agenda," said Mohamed.

The meeting brought together FKF's National Executive Committee (NEC), alongside representatives from FIFA, CAF and CECAFA, to discuss governance, institutional stability and the implementation of football development programmes in Kenya.

Mohamed said the talks also focused on accelerating the delivery of projects promised to stakeholders and finding solutions to the challenges facing the federation.

He reaffirmed FKF's commitment to working closely with FIFA, CAF and other football stakeholders to strengthen governance structures and support the long-term growth of the game.

The discussions come as Kenya intensifies preparations to co-host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations alongside Uganda and Tanzania, with FKF seeking to align its operations with FIFA and CAF requirements while improving institutional stability.

Mohamed also urged Kenyans to rally behind the national Under-17 women's team, the Junior Starlets, as they pursue qualification for the FIFA Under-17 Women's World Cup.

"It is a very exciting time for our Under-17 girls. We wish them all the best and urge Kenyans to come out and support them. If they win this final round, they will qualify for the FIFA Under-17 Women's World Cup," he said.
