Hundreds of families from Yatya and  Rormooch areas in Saimo Soi ward, Baringo North sub-county are fleeing for safety following a Monday night attack where bandits killed two pupils of Yatya primary school.

The pupils that were killed were siblings of the area chief.

The locals are now moving toward Rondonin and Barbarchun areas near Kipsaraman, over 20 kilometres away from their homes.

According to the affected persons led by William Kibet and Richard Chepchomei, they fear for their lives since groups of armed bandits camped in the area.

They say the situation can no longer be only described as banditry, but a merciless killing of people of indiscriminate age.

The said militia has been aiming at passers-by, shooting them down.

A number of schools in the area have been closed down following the high tension.
