Kenya shooters dominated the Kenya Open Level 3 IPSC Championship which culminated at the Shaba Shooting Range in Samburu on Sunday.

Ibrahim Ndungu of Bamburi Shooting Club won the Production category while DCI shooter Agnes Muchiri won the ladies category.

Muchiri, who is also the Kenya Number 1 lady shooter, beat Carol Kiama (Chalbi) and Irene Wanjiku to the scintillating podium tussle.

She was the top lady in the early morning session with 977 match-points. Muchiri oozed confidence from her opening shot as she posted a hit factor of 5.23 on Bay 1 and 4 -flat on the 13th Bay.

Ndung’u on the other hand beat Inspector Adan Mohammed of National Police Service and Thomas Kiilu to second and third positions respectively.

The Standard category honors went to Samuel Chacha who restricted Sammy Onyango and Robert Nyamongo to second and third.

Gerald Edo of Spain was the sole foreign winner in the Production Optics category.

Chalbi Club’s Maundu Manda racked up the Pistol Cabin Caliber (PCC) honors followed by teammates Eric Cherongis and Adam Suleiman.

Open Class honors went to Sunny Syan of Kenya Regiment Rifle Shooting Club (KRRC).

The International Category was taken by Gerald Edo of Spain followed by Pang Jun and Oscar Topera of Zimbabwe.

Senior winners were Samuel Chacha, James Thuo (first runner up) and Sunny Syan (second runner up).

The event was officially closed by Sports CS Amb (Dr) Amina Mohammed who called on Kenyan shooting organizers to run their events to international standards.

“The commitment shown by all and sundry in making this event a success was huge. I am glad that the international body (IPSC) has expressed interest in hosting events in Kenya. We hope that Kenya will be hosting international events here and make this range a shooting hub in Africa,” he said.

Amina congratulated all participants for making the event a delight to watch “I would like to appreciate all winners and losers in true spirits of sportsmanship,” said Amina.

Ndungu, savored an early morning run with a cumulative total of 1270 match-points. He posted his best hit factor of 8.05 and 6.6 on Bay 1 and Bay 3 respectively.

“Today the weather is good, at least better than yesterday. It’s a great feeling to win the Production Class. The afternoon stages were short, and you could easily run at a risk of losing points. We remained focused and precise through and through. I am happy for my weekend performance.”
