Hollywood Star Tyrese Gibson enoute to Nairobi after Ugandan stint

Walking through an airport terminal clad in a yellow beanie, black outfit, and silver chain, an animated Tyrese captured a short video documenting his trip. 

During his transit, he interacted warmly with local military personnel, saluting and remarking: "I gotta respect the soldiers out here."

Prior to boarding his connection, Tyrese shared his enthusiasm for the long journey ahead, saying: "I'm on my way to Nairobi... Nairobi, Africa... It's going and going and going and going... Africa! Africa!"

Before heading toward his departure gate, he stopped at an airport counter to purchase a refreshment, sharing a cheerful exchange with the counter attendant as he ordered an orange Fanta to gear up for the next leg of his trip.

Tyrese’s visit to Kenya comes as part of an extended tour across the African continent. 

Just prior to heading to Nairobi, the Fast & Furious star visited South Africa where he headlined the Ndlala Grandeur II R&B festival in Pretoria.

He also visited Uganda, where he met with President Yoweri Museveni, engaged with the country's tourism initiatives, and participated in activities highlighting the coffee industry and cultural heritage.

President Museveni welcomed the film star to Uganda and discussed the creative arts, tourism and the shared history and heritage of Africa and African Americans.

"I welcome international artiste Tyrese Gibson to Uganda. We discussed the creative arts, tourism, and the shared history and heritage of Africa and African Americans," President Museveni said in his official X handle on Tuesday night.

Adding that: "I shared with him Uganda's four sectors of socio-economic transformation, including the role of artistes like him in the services sector. We also discussed the opportunities in these sectors and how they can contribute to Uganda's development."

President Museveni hosted the visiting delegation at the State House alongside a sector of Uganda`s leadership, and showcased Uganda's coffee among other artefacts.

Tyrese's. connection to the continent is deeply personal. 

Earlier in 2026, he shared that an AncestryDNA test revealed he is 82 percent African - with roots spanning Cameroon, Congo, Benin, Togo, Senegal, Nigeria, and Ivory Coast - an outcome he described as deeply affirming to his heritage. 

The 'Sweet Lady' singer is expected to perform at the Coffee Concert later this year on 3rd October in Ntungamo, Uganda.
