GSU officer's house destroyed in suspected arson following domestic dispute

According to a police report filed at Embakasi Police Station under OB Number 36/31/07/2026, the incident occurred at about 2 a.m. on Friday, July 31.

Police said GSU officer David Kwalanda had returned to his Uni-Hut residence after stepping out when his former girlfriend allegedly arrived and found him in the company of two women. An argument reportedly ensued, prompting the officer to escort the two visitors out of the camp.

While he was at the main gate, he was informed that his house had caught fire. Witnesses reportedly told investigators they saw the suspect fleeing the scene shortly after the fire broke out.

Officers living within the camp responded and managed to extinguish the fire, but not before it destroyed the house and its contents.

Police said no injuries were reported. However, government-issued stores, specialised police equipment assigned to the officer and personal household items valued at about KSh200,000 were destroyed in the fire.

Officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations' Crime Scene Investigations unit visited and processed the scene. Police have launched investigations into the incident and are pursuing the suspect.
