Nairobi City Stars head coach Nicholas Muyoti says Monday’s league match win against champions Gor Mahia has lifted the team's spirit heading into their next fixture against Shabana, set for Saturday.

City Stars beat Gor 2-1 at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos to get their first win of the season and Muyoti believes this should spark of good run of results for the team.

“This was a great win against a very good side; the result means a lot to the whole team heading to the next away game [against Shabana]. The spirit will be high and we are looking forward to have a good outing come Saturday,” said Muyoti.

Having played with 10-men against the defending champions after Edwin Buliba was red carded in the 89th minute and still managed to get maximum points, Muyoti says that was down to the good team spirit against strong Gor side.

“Playing with 10 men against a defending champion can be very tricky because of the quality of players they have, but my players believed in themselves and never panicked and they were tactically disciplined,” he said.

“For us to get the maximum points, that is very impressive of them,” stated the former Kakamega Homeboyz coach.

After securing their first win of the season, City Stars jumped out of the relegation red zone to 14th place with five points from six matches, while K’Ogalo are ninth with seven points from four matches.
