Newly crowned Kenya Premier League champions Gor
Mahia have painted the town green and financially richer after inking a renewed
three-year sponsorship deal with Kansai Plascon Kenya Limited worth Ksh 30 million,
just days after lifting their record-extending 22nd gong.
The agreement, finalised at a Nairobi hotel on
Wednesday, represents a staggering jump from the club's previous Ksh5 million
arrangement and arrives at a pivotal moment as K'Ogalo prepare for a return to
Africa's biggest stage.
Overseeing the ceremony was club patron Eliud Owalo,
who watched on as Plascon Managing Director Kota Enami and Gor Mahia chairman
Ambrose Rachier put pen to paper.
"We are not just sponsoring a team; we are
investing in Kenyan football's most successful brand," Enami remarked
shortly after the signing.
Under the new structure, Gor Mahia will pocket KSh 7
million annually, with a 10 percent increase kicking in during the second and
third years. But the sweeteners do not stop there.
Plascon has pledged a minimum of KSh 1.5 million to
support the club's CAF Champions League campaign—a timely boost for a side
eager to make noise on the continent.
Additionally, the paint giants will shell out cash
rewards for every league title won, every Mashemeji Derby victory over AFC
Leopards, and any notable achievements in CAF competitions.
"We are grateful to Plascon for believing in
this club. This renewed and improved partnership will go a long way in
stabilising our operations as we prepare for the challenges of the CAF
Champions League," Rachier said.
Gor Mahia secured Kenya's sole ticket to the CAF
Champions League after reclaiming the league title they lost to Police FC in
the 2024/2025 campaign.
