Gor Mahia edges closer to premier league title

Gor Mahia stretched their SportPesa Premier League lead on Saturday as they thrashed Nairobi City Stars  3-1  at the Nyayo National Stadium.

K’Ogalo extended their lead in the  premier league to 11 points ahead of second placed Ulinzi Stars with two games in hand.

The KPL defending champions opened the score sheet in the 26th minute with a goal from Rwandan Meddie Kagere before play-maker Michael Olunga made it 2-nil in the 47th minute.

A second half penalty in the 60th minute saw Olunga beat goalkeeper Robert Kagunzi to score his 15th goal of the season. The spot kick was awarded after John Amboko’s hand ball from a  Kagere cross in the goal area.

City Stars only consolation came in the 89th minute as  Jimmy Bageya  scored a late one before the game ended 3-1 ensuring Gor continues with its unbeaten run. City Stars is now glaring at relegation as it is second last above Nakuru Allstars with the season almost ending.
