Gachagua terms Kikuyu Police Station a crime scene, accuses DCI of cover-up

Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has described Kikuyu Police Station as an active crime scene, accusing the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) of covering up alleged atrocities committed by officers at the station.

Speaking on Sunday while attending a church service at ACK St. Philip’s and Mary Magdalene Church in Gachie, Kiambu County, Gachagua alleged that officers from the station planned killings across the country before allegedly carrying out the attacks.

“There at Kikuyu Police Station is a scene of crime. That police station is where all murders are planned in Kenya,” he claimed.

The former Deputy President reiterated claims that the motive behind Dr. Victoria Mutiso killing was to facilitate the sale of her land, which he said was valued at Ksh.1.5 billion.

According to Gachagua, officers from the station receive protection from senior government officials and their Officer Commanding Station, which he claimed was the reason no action has been taken against them.

“All issues, the officers killing people are there. They are protected by Chief Inspector Mulwa who is protected by Kimani Ichung’wah, who is defending him not to be removed from that post,” Gachagua added.

Gachagua further alleged that some officers at the station had turned into “assassins for hire”, claiming that members of the public could allegedly approach them to settle personal or business disputes.

“Now those officers to be hired to kill are there. Kenya has reached a point where if you want to kill someone, maybe you have disagreed about business or even husband and wife have disagreed and you want to kill them, you go there and pay the police,” he claimed.

He alleged that each officer is paid Ksh.500,000 for such operations, claiming that the three individuals he believes were involved in Mutiso’s killing received Ksh.1.5 million.

Gachagua also alleged that firearms reportedly stolen during the Gen Z protests were removed from government records and are now being distributed to officers to commit murders.

He called on the Inspector-General of Police to release the investigation report into the alleged crimes and called for the dismantling of Kikuyu Police Station.

Gachagua’s remarks come days after DCI Director Mohamed Amin accused him of interfering with an active investigation into Mutiso’s murder.

Addressing the media on Friday, Amin claimed that investigators had established that Gachagua was in communication with one of the key suspects in the murder as well as the boda boda rider allegedly involved in the killing.

“Gachagua was in communication with one of the suspects in the Dr. Mutiso murder. Gachagua was also in communication with the boda boda rider. Suspects we arrested last evening were on the run, almost crossing the border. Why would a politician want to bangle our investigations?” Amin said.

In response, Gachagua accused the DCI of attempting to frame the two men, a boda boda rider and a driver whom he says are from his community, while allegedly protecting the officers responsible for Mutiso’s killing.

Gachagua has alleged that members of the Nairobi Sierra team have been targeted for murder, claiming that Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has already ordered their elimination to erase any evidence. He urged the members to come forward and reveal what they know before,  any harm could come to them  and seek help from witness protection.
