Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua is set to travel to the United Kingdom on Friday, May 15, as part of a broader strategy to mobilise election funding ahead of the 2027 polls.

The former Deputy President confirmed this during the funeral of Ann Nyatoro Ndung’u, the mother of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) Member of Parliament Kanini Kega, where he revealed that his trip is aimed at establishing networks that would raise funds for the DCP party.

Shortly after the UK trip, Gachagua is expected to tour the United States of America to address the party's financial gap.

In a press briefing on May 12, 2026, Gachagua stated that DCP is working to strengthen its systems to become a formidable force in next year's General Election.

“This is why I will leave for the United Kingdom on Friday night… thereafter, I will come back then go to the United States again to talk to our friends and partners. We must put money together for elections, we cannot afford to fail,” he stated.
