Gachagua accuses Duale of stoking Kikuyu-Somali division ahead of 2027

Speaking on Tuesday at the party headquarters in Nairobi while welcoming new members, Gachagua said the two communities had enjoyed a long-standing relationship, particularly in Eastleigh, where he said people from the Mount Kenya and Northern Kenya regions have lived and done business together for years.

“Ukiangalia pale Eastleigh, watu wa mlima na watu wa North Eastern wamekuwa pale,” Gachagua said.

He assured DCP supporters that the party would champion their rights as well as those of other Kenyans, while warning against attempts to create divisions between the Kikuyu and Somali communities.

Gachagua said he had no problem with the Somali community, adding that individuals accused of stealing public property would face the law and return any property found to have been unlawfully acquired.

“I have no problem with the Somali. I want to tell the people from Northern Kenya, those who have stolen property will be prosecuted and will return public property,” he said.

The former Deputy President further accused Duale of allowing himself to be used by President William Ruto to drive a wedge between the two communities, warning that his party would oppose such efforts.

Gachagua also announced plans to tour the North Eastern counties of Garissa, Wajir and Mandera after returning from his planned diaspora tour.

Turning to Nairobi politics, the DCP leader claimed that his party and its allies had already taken control of the political landscape in the capital, which he said belonged to the United Opposition.

Nairobi has 17 constituencies, and Gachagua claimed the opposition was already confident of winning 12 of them in the 2027 elections.

He further declared that the United Opposition would seek to capture all the constituencies in Nairobi in the next General Election.
