The Federal Party of Kenya (FPK) has embarked on a rebranding and restructuring drive as its leader, Tana River Governor Maj. (Rtd.) Prof. Dhadho Godhana, weighs his political options ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Sources within the party said the National Executive Council (NEC) met this week to review proposals for a new party logo and symbol as part of preparations for an official relaunch.

The revamp is expected to go beyond the party's identity, with plans also underway to review its organisational structure, website, communication materials, colours, dress code, manuals and slogan.

The changes are intended to reposition FPK and strengthen its political presence as parties begin laying the groundwork for the 2027 elections.

Godhana has largely kept his political ambitions under wraps, despite growing calls from party members and supporters in the Coast region for him to make a bid for the presidency.

The governor has not formally declared whether he will seek the presidency, with discussions within FPK continuing as the party prepares for its relaunch.

Godhana, however, acknowledged that pressure was mounting for him to appear on the ballot in 2027, either as a presidential candidate or as President William Ruto's running mate.

“The FPK party and Coast region are pushing me to be on the ballot come 2027 or President William Ruto’s running mate,” Godhana said.

His comments come as political parties and prospective candidates intensify efforts to position themselves ahead of the next General Election, with alliances and presidential bids expected to become clearer in the months ahead.

Godhana has cultivated a relatively measured political profile, with his allies portraying him as a leader who prefers to focus on his work and speak when necessary, particularly after delivering on his commitments.

FPK is expected to conclude the rebranding and restructuring exercise before unveiling the revamped party to the public during an official relaunch.
