Former
Samburu Governor Moses Lenolkulal has asked the court to dismiss the Ksh.84
million corruption case against him.
Defending himself in the case he is facing at the anti-corruption court, the
former Samburu boss told the court that he was wrongfully prosecuted adding
that the county government never lost any money.
According
to Lenolkulal, the county got value for money arguing that the 200 vouchers
produced in court as evidence are proof that there was a lawful transaction and
all documentation was in order.
Lenolkula
was defending himself after the court made a ruling that he had a case to
answer.
In
the case, Lenolkulal was accused of instigating trade between the Samburu
County Government and Oryx Service Station, which he allegedly owns, by
supplying fuel worth over Ksh.84 million.
He
and his co-accused persons were charged with various corruption offences
arising from the unlawful payment of the said amount to Oryx Service.
But
the former governor says there was no conflict of interest, arguing that he ceased
being a signatory of the Oryx account with Kenya Commercial Bank in October
2015 upon recovery of monies from debtors, some of whom were the
national government.
