Speaking in Nkareta, Jubilee Secretary General Moitalel Ole Kenta claimed President William Ruto’s UDA party had “sensed defeat” and was resorting to “dirty tricks” ahead of the polls.
Kenta questioned what he said were inconsistencies around past registers and systems, calling for greater transparency from the electoral body.
“Nashangaa kwa sababu kutoka 2012, hizo register za 2007 zilienda wapi?” he posed.
He said while Jubilee supports the removal of deceased persons from the register, the voters’ roll should not be altered in a way that disenfranchises eligible voters.
“Kuna mamilioni ya watu wanataka kuondolewa kwa register; tunataka watoe watu waliokufa, na tunataka Wakenya wajihadhari,” he said.
Kenta called on the electoral body to open its servers and records for public scrutiny, saying Kenyans should be able to verify what happened to the 2022 voters’ register.
“Tungetaka servers ama records zote kutoka 2012 kwenda nyuma zifunguliwe ndio tuelewe kama kuna nia ya kuharibu kura ya 2027,” he said.
He also questioned what happened to the biometric systems previously used in voter registration.
“Hizo biometric systems tulikuwa tunatumia kwani zilienda wapi?” he said.
Kenta said the party could organise demonstrations to protest the move.
The former Narok North MP also defended former President Uhuru Kenyatta, saying government-allied politicians who have been attacking the Jubilee leader risk being voted out.
He claimed the Jubilee faction allied to Kenyatta enjoys more than 80 per cent support.
Kenta further appealed to the United Opposition/Alternative Government wing to remain united and front one candidate to face President Ruto in the 2027 election.
