Former Likuyani Member of Parliament, Dr. Enoch Kibunguchy, has passed away.

According to his cousin, Justus Wekesa, Kibunguchy passed away early Tuesday morning while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Eldoret town.

Kibunguchy also previously served as the Member of Parliament for Lugari before the constituency was split into two to create the Likuyani constituency.

The family has since claimed his death could be as a result of food poisoning.

According to his nephew, Kelly Walubengo, they took him to the hospital last week with stomach complications.

However, he states that based on the deceased's condition—which they say continued to deteriorate significantly—they suspect there may have been something put in his food.

Speaking in Eldoret, Walubengo, accompanied by other family members, stated that they will wait for a post-mortem examination and further investigations to determine what caused Kibunguchy's death.

On his part, DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa described Kibunguchy's death as a major blow to the Likuyani region, saying the deceased had the ambition to contest for the parliamentary seat in the next general election to improve the lives of the local residents.
