A former Kenya Airways hostess has been released from prison after serving 13 years for drug smuggling.
Priscilla Chemutai Kolongei served 13 years out of an 18-year sentence at the Lang’ata Women’s Maximum Prison and was released early for good behavior.
Kolongei, who is now 49 years old, is also a single mother of one child.
Her sentencing in 2002 was among the harshest ever handed down to a drug trafficker in Kenya.
Kolongei was caught with more than 27 kilograms of heroin in March of 2002 which she was attempting to smuggle into the country from Mumbai, India, through the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
The drugs were worth Sh27 million.
