The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) hosted a joint FIFA and CAF delegation in Nairobi for discussions on governance, institutional stability and the future development of football in Kenya.
The meeting brought together FKF leadership, members of the National Executive Committee (NEC), and representatives from FIFA, CAF and CECAFA to discuss the federation's priorities and the implementation of key football development programmes.
Speaking after the meeting, FKF President Hussein Mohammed said the talks were important as Kenya continues preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which it will co-host with Uganda and Tanzania.
"It was a good day for football. We had an opportunity to sit down with the FIFA and CAF delegation and discuss matters affecting the federation. It is important for the entire football family to work in harmony as we prepare to deliver a memorable AFCON and advance our football development agenda," said Mohammed.
He noted that the discussions also focused on accelerating projects promised to stakeholders and finding solutions to challenges facing the federation.
The FKF president reaffirmed the federation's commitment to working closely with FIFA, CAF and other stakeholders to strengthen football structures and promote long-term growth of the game.
Mohammed also rallied support for the national Under-17 women's team, the Junior Starlets, who are seeking qualification for the FIFA Under-17 Women's World Cup.
"It is a very exciting time for our Under-17 girls. We wish them all the best and urge Kenyans to come out and support them. If they win this final round, they will qualify for the FIFA Under-17 Women's World Cup," he said.
The meeting comes as FKF seeks to strengthen governance structures, improve institutional stability and align its operations with FIFA and CAF requirements while intensifying preparations for AFCON 2027.
