The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Electoral Board says it
aims to have the federation's elections concluded by mid-December 2024,
Chairman Hesbon Owilla has said.
Speaking during the unveiling of the board on Monday at a
Nairobi hotel, Owilla also promised to release timelines of various events
leading to the national office elections in the next three days.
The five-member board has appointed lawyer Marceline Sande
as the Secretary, while former AFC Leopards Chairman Dan Mule, SJAK president
James Waindi and Alfred Ng'ang'a complete the matrix.
Owilla acknowledged the exercise ahead was crucial for the
future of Kenya's football, promising fairness to all aspirants targeting
positions at various levels.
"The elections will create the foundation for our beloved
sports, one that fans, players, and stakeholders have entrusted to safeguard.
We want all football stakeholders to know that we are committed, as a team, to
delivering an outcome that every stake holder will be proud of," he said.
The board will run its operations from the Kandanda House, FKF
headquarters, and Owilla says the location will not affect their work.
"Anyone who wants to interact with all the other
possibilities will reach the very same conclusion that if the regulations
provide for that location, the board has responsibility to ensure that it
serves the interests of all aspirants without undue influence," he added.
Asked if there is a challenge concerning the Electoral Code
which has already been challenged at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS)
in Switzerland, Owilla said the board is not aware of the case.
"We are not aware if there is a case filed against us. We
have not been served with a court order and I cannot comment on that,” he
stated.
Reserve board members Robert Asembo was not present at the
unveiling, presided over by FKF Secretary General Barry Otieno.
