Firearm recovered as police nab 3 phone theft suspects in Eldoret

Police in Uasin Gishu County on Sunday arrested three suspects linked to the rampant theft of mobile phones in the Elgon View area of Eldoret.

It is said two of the suspects are not area residents and have rented a house in Eldoret town where they have been operating from.

The suspects are accused of snatching phones and fleeing on a motorcycle, then selling the phones through a shop operator in Eldoret town, who was also arrested as the third suspect.

Uasin Gishu Police Commander Benjamin Mwanthi said they recovered an illegally owned firearm and 42 phones suspected to be stolen during the arrest.

He added that the three will remain in custody as investigations get underway before being arraigned.
