Fire destroys Githurai 45 furniture market

Property worth millions of shillings was Monday morning destroyed after a fire broke out at Githurai 45 furniture market next to Kassmart Supermarket along the Thika Superhighway.

Area residents said the inferno began at around 4am before spreading to adjacent shops, gutting down furniture and other items at the shopping stalls in the area popularly known as ” Kwa Mbao“.

No casualties were reported from the incident.

Fire fighters were still on the ground battling the inferno at around 8am.

The cause of the fire could not be immediately established.

The incident caused a traffic snarl up along the area, with motorists being advised to use alternative routes.
