In a rare and prestigious recognition of Kenyan club football, FIFA President Gianni Infantino has officially extended his congratulations to Gor Mahia FC following their triumphant victory in the 2025/26 Kenyan Premier League season.

The Kenyan giants secured their record-extending 22nd domestic league title, further cementing their status as the most successful club in Kenyan football history. No other local club has reached this milestone.

In a personal statement released by football’s global governing body through Football Kenya Federation, Infantino lauded K’Ogalo for their relentless consistency and dominance throughout the campaign.

“I am pleased to congratulate the recently crowned champions of Kenya, Gor Mahia FC,” Infantino said.

The FIFA boss emphasised the hard work behind the team’s success, praising the collective effort that carried them through a grueling season.

“Their constant efforts and results through the season have paid off, resulting in this important title. Congratulations to each and every member of the team and of the club for this great achievement,” he added.

Gor Mahia’s 22nd league title comes after a season defined by tactical discipline and resilience, outlasting rivals AFC Leopards and defending champions Police FC.

The triumph adds another chapter to the club’s storied legacy, which includes multiple domestic cups and historic runs in African continental competitions.

Infantino’s direct acknowledgment, typically reserved for champions of major European leagues or international tournament winners, has been hailed by local football administrators and fans as a sign of growing international respect for the Kenyan Premier League.

Gor Mahia chairman Ambrose Rachier appreciated the congratulatory message from FIFA President, stating that this is the first of its kind and the message erase any allegation that might be attached to Gor’s triumph.

“We are happy as a club… this marks the first time a FIFA President has personally congratulated us on our performance. It means the world to us, as it validates our efforts and adds authenticity and credibility to our victory.

“President Infantino's message is a clear acknowledgment of the hard work we have invested throughout the season to achieve this success. Above all, it firmly puts to rest any allegations of unfair play from the naysayers, once and for all,” noted Rachier, the most decorated chairman in Kenyan league.
