FedEx, Feed the Children launch hygiene programme targeting 2,400 children in Kajiado

A new hygiene programme targeting 2,400 school-aged children and adolescents has been launched in Bisil, Kajiado County, in an effort to improve access to Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) support.

The initiative, dubbed the Clean Futures Alliance, is a partnership between Federal Express Corporation (FedEx) and Feed the Children and will provide children with personal hygiene kits alongside education on everyday hygiene practices.

The programme, launched on Wednesday, is being implemented through FedEx's community investment programme, FedEx Cares, with company employees taking part in volunteer activities alongside community partners.

As part of the initiative, WASH education sessions have been conducted at Inkati and Noontoto primary schools, focusing on hygiene practices that can help children maintain healthier habits.

FedEx team members also participated in preparing and distributing hygiene kits to the beneficiaries.

Feed the Children president and CEO Emily Callahan said improved access to hygiene resources can have a direct impact on children's health and participation in school.

“Access to hygiene supports children’s health, confidence and ability to stay engaged in school,” said Callahan.

“Our continued collaboration with FedEx is helping expand community-driven solutions that enable children and families to build healthier futures.”

The Clean Futures Alliance builds on an existing partnership between the two organisations, with the latest programme focusing on children and communities in Kajiado County.

The initiative seeks to combine the provision of essential hygiene supplies with education, allowing beneficiaries to learn and practise basic hygiene measures.
