A family in Thika’s Makongeni estate is demanding answers following the tragic and mysterious death of 23-year-old Dec Muniko Paul.

The young man reportedly fell from the fifth floor of his apartment during a police operation, leaving his family questioning how such a tragedy could have occurred.

According to the family, officers raided Dec’s home, less than a kilometre from Makongeni police station, on Thursday evening on an undisclosed mission.

The circumstances surrounding his fall have sparked serious concerns about the conduct of the police, with relatives alleging he may have been pushed.

According to reports, police from Makongeni station raided the house where Dec was with two other people. In the chaos that followed, he fell to the ground and died.

His body was later collected from the apartment and taken to General Kago mortuary, where an autopsy confirmed the cause of death as blunt force trauma from multiple injuries.

The incident has sparked outrage, with Dec’s family insisting he was pushed by officers. They are now calling on the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) and other agencies to conduct a thorough investigation.

The family wants IPOA and other relevant agencies to take up the matter and establish what exactly happened.

Despite their doubts about the ongoing investigation at Thika West Police Station, the family plans to take Dec’s body to Migori for burial.
