A family in Pipeline, Nairobi, is searching for their 6-year-old son, Prince Nelson Mandela, who went missing on September 28, 2025, in Muthurwa.

Nelson's mother Jane Taabu, who has since reported the matter to the Muthurwa Police Station, had relocated to Kenya from Uganda after allegedly suffering abuse at the hands of her husband.

She had been staying at her brother's house in Muthurwa, which she said the boy left on the said day to go and play outside, only to go missing.

“Nilikuwa na watoto wanne, nilitoka Uganda kama mwanaume amenitesa vibaya sana. Nilikuwa nimepigwa vibaya hata macho haikuwa inaona,” Taabu stated.

“Nilikuja kwa brother yangu ako Muthurwa, ndivyo nilikaa huko wiki mbili ndiyo nipate kupona.”

Taabu had left in search of a house in Pipeline and upon returning, she was informed that her son had left and never returned.

“Ilikuwa Sunday, wakati nilikuja kutafuta nyumba ilikuwa saa nne, nikarudi saa sita ana nusu, sikupata mtoto. Kuuliza ndugu yake akaniambia mtoto alikuwa ametoka nje anachezea hapo,” she said.

“Tukatafuta mtoto kila mahali na sikumuona, sasa sijui mtoto alienda wapi hadi saa hii.”

His mother, together with her other children, continued the search before reporting to the area chief and later Muthurwa Police Station. The family has since traversed Kamukunji, Eastleigh, Makandara, among other places looking for the boy.

“Mwenye ako na huyo mtoto, kama amekaa kwa nyumba amtoe,” Antonica Kamene, the child’s aunt, said.
