Family demands justice after son fatally stabbed in Eastleigh

Omondi, who worked at the store, was stabbed on Sunday, September 27, 2026, following a confrontation with a colleague who is alleged to be a Ugandan national.

According to witnesses, Omondi had gone to the store to inquire about his trousers, which the suspect was allegedly wearing at the time.

A confrontation reportedly ensued, during which the suspect allegedly picked up a sharp object from the roof of the store and stabbed Omondi once in the lower abdomen before fleeing the scene.

Omondi’s father, Bernard Omondi, said he received a phone call from one of his son’s colleagues informing him that Tony had been stabbed.

“The colleague told me that Tony had a confrontation with someone at work and he had been stabbed,” Bernard said.

Tony’s sister, Juliet Omondi, who rushed to the scene, said she found her brother had already received first aid at a nearby clinic but was still in considerable pain.

“When I arrived, I found Tony had received first aid and was lying in a charcoal store, but he still looked weak,” Juliet said.

The family said they were concerned about the initial medical attention Tony received and decided to transfer him to Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) for further treatment.

However, Tony succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.

The family is now calling for the arrest and prosecution of the suspect, who reportedly fled the scene immediately after the incident.

Ibrahim Abdi, the store manager, confirmed that the stabbing occurred at the premises but said the suspect was not well known to them, having worked at the store for only a few days.

Abdi said the suspect had been referred to the store by another employee who was on leave at the time of the incident.

Meanwhile, Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers from Pangani are pursuing leads to trace and arrest the suspect.
