Family asks DCI to probe disappearance of Ksh.70M from Kitisuru property sale

A family has asked the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to investigate the disappearance of Ksh.70 million paid for a Nairobi property, alleging that the money was not released to the owners after the sale was completed.

The dispute involves the sale of L.R. No. 4242/44 along Saunders Close in Kitisuru, Nairobi, which was sold for the said amount.

According to a complaint presented to investigators, the purchaser paid the full amount through the advocates handling the transaction.

The payments were made in four instalments of Ksh.7 million, Ksh.45 million, Ksh.10 million and Ksh.8 million, with the final payment reportedly made on December 18, 2025.

The sale agreement dated May 7, 2025, had provided that the purchase price would be deposited into a designated client account at Equity Bank's Westlands Corporate Branch.

However, the family claims that despite the purchaser completing payment, the Ksh.70 million was never remitted to them.

The complainants are now seeking an investigation into the movement and handling of the funds, saying they have been unable to establish what happened to the money after it was deposited.

The family further alleges that they were later informed that the funds had been misappropriated while one of the parties involved in the transaction was in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

They have also raised concerns that those they hold responsible could leave the country before investigators establish what happened to the money.

The complainants have asked the DCI to trace the funds and determine whether any criminal offence was committed.

They say they are ready to hand over the sale agreement, payment records and other documents to investigators to support their complaint.
