England international Djed Spence has left Tottenham Hotspur to sign for Inter Milan, the reigning Italian champions announced on Saturday.

According to specialist website Transfermarkt, Inter paid 30 million euros ($35 million) for the 26-year-old right-back.

"The English full-back, born in 2000, joins the Nerazzurri from Tottenham on a permanent deal. Spence has signed a contract with the club until June 30, 2031," Inter said in a statement.

Tottenham posted confirmation of Spence's departure on their website.

"An arrival from Middlesbrough in July, 2022, the defender made a total of 85 appearances in our colours, scoring twice... We wish him well for the future," it said.

Spurs paid 14 million euros for him with Spence going on to be one of their most effective defenders under difficult circumstances last season when they narrowly avoided relegation from the Premier League.

Spence emerged as a key member of the England team which finished third in this summer's World Cup.

The defender already has some experience of Serie A, having spent six months on loan at Genoa between January and June 2024.

He is the second England international to join Inter in the space of two weeks: at the end of July, 32-year-old John Stones left Manchester City after 10 seasons to join the Lombardy club.

They will likely form Inter's defence alongside Italy internationals Alessandro Bastoni and Federico Dimarco.
