The highly anticipated event is expected to attract more than 5,000 participants from various government parastatals across the country, marking a week-long celebration of sportsmanship, unity, and public service camaraderie.
A wide range of sporting disciplines will be staged across multiple venues in the county.
Moi Stadium will serve as the main arena, hosting athletics and football competitions.
Indoor sports such as volleyball, netball, basketball, and the newly introduced chess tournament will be held at Embu University.
Aquatic events are set for the Sir John Sports and Recreational Centre, while snooker matches will take place at the Nyeri Outspan Hotel.
KECOSO Secretary General Omole Asiko highlighted the historical significance of the games, which have been held annually since 1978.
He noted that the tournament has consistently played a vital role in promoting teamwork and nurturing talent within government agencies.
“We are confident this year’s games will leave a lasting positive legacy in Embu County, both in terms of sports development and community impact,” said Asiko.
County officials expressed optimism about the socio-economic benefits of hosting the event.
Embu County Chief Officer for Sports, Yusuf Kaburia, described the games as a timely opportunity to spotlight local talent and enhance the region’s sports profile.
“We encourage young athletes to take part, as this platform can open doors to major clubs and national recognition,” said Kaburia.
Echoing this sentiment, KECOSO Vice Chair Ben Juma emphasized that the tournament presents a valuable opportunity for emerging sports talents to showcase their abilities and gain broader exposure.
With less than a month remaining, preparations are in full swing and organisers are working closely with local authorities and stakeholders to ensure smooth logistics and a successful event.
Residents and sports fans can look forward to an exciting week filled with top-tier competition, cultural exchange, and vibrant entertainment as Embu County prepares to take centre stage in one of Kenya’s biggest inter-agency sporting festivals.
