An-82-year-old man who escaped death by a whisker after his son allegedly attempted to torch his house over a land dispute now wants the court to give him the green light to eject his son from his property, terming him a threat to his life.

Mzee Francis Chepkok told Eldoret Presiding Magistrate Beatrice Toroitich that he had been turned into a refugee by his stubborn son on his own property.

Testifying against his son Kiprop Chepkok, Mzee Chepkok asked the court to allow him to purchase an alternative piece of land for his embattled son away from his property so that he can enjoy his peace on earth.

The old man shocked the court when he claimed that after his son displaced him from his land, he went ahead and chased away his siblings from their parcels of land to avert a succession dispute over his estate in the event he passed away.

He accused his son of uprooting his elder brother, Andrew Chepkok, from his share of 3 acres of agricultural land located in the Bindura settlement scheme in Kesses sub-county, Uasin Gishu County.

The accused person, who is currently out on bond, committed the said offence on June 21, 2024.

The case will come up for further hearing on August 6, 2026.
