After much waiting and lots of nominations, the BET award has finally come East.

Eddy Kenzo of Uganda managed to clinch the new ‘Viewer’s Choice Best New International Artist’ at the BET awards 2015 that were held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday.

This is the second time a BET award has come to East Africa, after Kenyan actress Lupita Nyong’o won last year.

The ‘Sitya Loss’ hit maker beat two other African musicians, South Africa’s Cassper Nyovest and Ghana’s Mz Vee, and three artistes from the UK, George The Poet, MIC Lowry and Novelist, to win the coveted award.

Ugandans and Africa as a whole took to social media to congratulate the artiste, who is still riding on the success of his hit single Sitya Loss.

The song’s video on Youtube has over 12 million views and a viral video of the children who danced in his music video has over 11 million views.
